Twelve bands battled it out at the O2 Academy in Leeds last night for a chance to play this year’s Leeds and Reading Festivals.
The quality of the talent was particularly high across the board and all the bands were warmly received by the crowd. However there could be only one winner and it was local three piece band The Mexanines who made it through and will be playing this year’s Leeds and Reading Festivals.
The Mexanines have been getting a lot of attention on the local circuit for a while now having won last year’s Bingley Music Live competition to play alongside James, Reef, The Blackout, Public Image Ltd and more.
If you can’t wait until Leeds Festival 2011 to see The Mexanines play live again you can also catch them this Friday night at Alan McGee’s Greasy Lips Club at Milo Bar in Leeds, where they will be playing alongside last year’s Centre Stage winners Penguin as well as Sharp Darts, Latter Day Saints, Audit Control and Ryder, followed by a DJ set by Alan McGee (Oasis, Primal Scream, The Hives).
Well done to all of the bands that played in this year’s Centre Stage competition. The quality was exceptionally high and we’ll be looking forward to seeing all of the bands develop and come back for Centre Stage 2012!
